Required Reading: July 2014

I took a short walk in the rain this evening—it was exactly what I needed to unwind after a day of hectic errands. Rain showers are something I don't think I'll ever outgrow... that and books, of course.

June turned out to be a wonderfully fruitful reading month, with every book earning at least 4 stars:

1. Follies Past: A Prequel to Pride and Prejudice by Melanie Kerr (4/5 ★) – A intriguing take on the backstory between Georgiana and Wickham.

2. The City & The City by China Miéville (5/5 ★) – Pure admiration for the genius of this author.

3. Previously Loved Treasures by Bette Lee Crosby (4/5 ★) – A truly endearing read.

4. Why Kings Confess by C.S. Harris (4/5 ★) – The 9th installment in the Sebastian St. Cyr series, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

5. The Utopia Experiment by Kyle Mills (4/5 ★) – Another favorite series of mine; I was thrilled to see Marty take center stage with some incredible action in this one.

July TBR

Here’s hoping July is just as engaging and productive! I’m diving into a middle-grade series by Pseudonymous Bosch that has been sitting on my shelf for a while since I read THE NAME OF THIS BOOK IS SECRET:

• If You're Reading This, It's Too Late (The Secret Series, #2)

• This Book Is Not Good for You (The Secret Series, #3)

• This Isn't What It Looks Like (The Secret Series, #4)

• You Have to Stop This (The Secret Series, #5)

So far, these have been fun companions alongside Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities (our TFG Book of the Month). They couldn't be more different, but they provide a wonderful palate cleanser between chapters!
