Required Reading: September 2013

Hello, "BER" Months!

There are four of them, starting with... SeptemBER.

This month is going to be packed for Filipino book lovers! We have AKLATAN on September 7th at Alphaland Southgate, followed by the 34th Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) at SMX MOA from September 11th to 15th. Needless to say, our wallets are going to feel the pinch soon!

But first, let’s recap my reads from August (yes, "last month," even though it was only three days ago!):

  1. The Bookstore by Deborah Meyler – 3/5 stars

  2. A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin – 4/5 stars

  3. Tall Story by Candy Gourlay – 4/5 stars

  4. Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick – 4/5 stars

  5. Love Your Frenemies by Mina V. Esguerra – 4/5 stars

  6. That Kind of Guy by Mina V. Esguerra – 3/5 stars

  7. All's Fair in Blog and War by Chrissie Peria – 4/5 stars

  8. Rage by Jackie Kessler – 4/5 stars

  9. The Lost Soul by Gabriella Pierce – 4/5 stars

  10. In the Forests of the Night by Kersten Hamilton – 4/5 stars

  11. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith – 4/5

  12. The Dark River by John Twelve Hawks – 4/5 stars
Don't let the length of this list fool you! The first two were carryovers from July, and most of the others were under 300 pages. Still, it was a fantastic reading month overall.

September TBR

For September, I'm aiming to read three books:

  1. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov – This month's pick for The Filipino Group (TFG). I’m really enjoying the narration so far!

  2. A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin – The urge to conquer GRRM's series is strong with my buddy readers.

  3. The Falling Away by T.L. Hines – As a T.L. Hines completist, I'm excited for another dose of supernatural suspense.

A Birthday Giveaway Project!

September is my birthday month (and no, don't ask me when!). To mark the occasion, I want to do something special. Over the next four weeks, I’ll be dropping books anonymously.

I’ve picked four of my absolute favorite books, and every week, I’ll leave one in a random public spot with a note inside. I’ll share photos and updates of each book drop right here on the blog! My hope is that these small gifts will spark a passion for reading in whoever finds them.

Consider me officially excited! ♥
